General

Q: How can we keep up with your progress, and opening date?
A:  First we will schedule a really cool ground breaking ceremony once our entitlements are secured and the development is funded. There will be a lot of marketing info on this, so the word of these events should get to you. The construction schedule and opening date will be released at this ceremony. Second, you can always email us at info@texasxpark.com and type in “add me” to email list, and you will be informed of our progress.

Q:  How much will it cost to get in the park and to participate?
A:  We are currently working on this part of the operation plan. We know that there will be many specials, family plans, tailored plans, and gold card and VIP membership, from daily to annual. Look for our specials coming soon.

Q:  What are the activities the TXP will host?
A:  Good question, Skateboard, roller blades, BMX race, BMX free style, Motocross, ATV Park, Pee-wee park, paintball, beach concert, camping, training, RV park, mountain bike, fishing, wakeboarding, equestrian, marathons, circle track, jog, walk, run, volley ball, performing arts, magic acts, festivals, trade shows, exhibits, special attractions, demo’s, sports camps, archery, fireworks, Christmas trail of Lights, Halloween trails, shows, Bay blade, and a RC race car track.

Q:  What is planned in the Sports Entertainment & Destination Center?
A:  Restaurants, concerts, ice skating, hockey, volleyball, basketball, soccer, football, gymnastics, karate, cheer, dance, lacrosse, hotels, and support tenants of retail and service.

MX Motocross, trails, pee-wee, ATV

Q:  Our family does not race motocross, but we enjoy riding trails, does your park have anything for us?
A:  Yes, we will have a lot of trails. The trails will be marked per skill level, so there will be slow trails with little obstacles for the beginners as well as difficult trails for the advanced riders.

Q:  Do we have to be members of something to ride on these trails?
A:  No club or association membership is required to ride on these trails.

Q:  What about the MX race tracks, do we need to be members of an association?
A:  Yes, you will be required to be an AMA or NMA member in good standing to ride any of the competition tracks. Clubs will also be considered. This is to keep the quality of the competition tracks, for the enjoyment of the participants.

Q:  Where can we find the rules for the NMA or AMA?
A:  You can find their rules under on their web sites. Their sites are on our Links page.

Q:  Will there be sound testing for all OHV?
A:  Yes, the AMA’s SAE J1287 sound test will apply to all OHV’s. The 2007 rule for this is 98 dBa at 20” at half horse power RPM.

Q:  What if my bike with the aftermarket exhaust should fail the sound test?
A:  We will have a loaner insert for your exhaust system.

Q:  Why are you doing this sound test?
A:  Good question, daily in the United States we are all loosing areas to ride OHV due to the environmental impact, as well as the community. The Texas X Park is partnering with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on environmental awareness and other related issues to secure the enjoyment of Off Highway Vehicle riding for many years to come. This is also an AMA competition rule that has been on the books for many years and to protect the integrity of the riding areas, we will enforce such rules.

Q:  Who will be conducting the SJE 90 Sound Test?
A:  We will have our trained and certified staff employees conduct the testing.

Q:  What about us quad, 4-wheelers, ATV guys and gals, can we ride in the park?
A:  Yes, you all will be allowed the same as the 2-wheelers, you will have access to all the trails, and scheduled and organized practice on the competition tracks. You can race on these tracks too. We are also going to build you your own ATV riding area, just for you…yeah, you can kick the two wheelers out of your area.

Q:  What about the little kids and beginners, will they have an area to ride?
A:  Yes, they will have their own pee-wee park, just for them.

Q:  I am considering buying my eight year old daughter a dirt bike, will there be any safety class provided?
A:  Yes, TXP will be scheduling many off highway vehicle safety and riding classes for kids of all ages. The classes will cover motorcycles and ATV.

Q:  My son and I were considering racing, but would like to improve on our skills. Will there be any advanced training classes?
A:  Yes, there will be a variety of classes, some for pleasure riding as well as serious camps, including lessons provided by nationally ranked pros.

Q:  Will there be any race classes for the beginners with the slower dirt bikes?
A:  Yes, we will include a lot of special class, such as powder-puff, MX Mom, XR, PW classes of the beginner youth and so on. Five riders will make a gate, so you can always start your own class as well.

Q:  What will the competition riding area be like?
A:  We hope to design a fun race track, with split lanes for the beginners and pro enjoyment and competition.

Q:  What type of soils will be used to cover the racing surface?
A:  Staff will be consulting with the best track designers out there, and the soil mixture will be designed to best one of the best in the country,

Q:  Where there be a bike wash on site?
A:  Yes, we are planning on a bike wash area.

Q:  Will there be race fuel for sell on site?
A:  Yes we will have many brands and specifications of race fuels and lubricants.

Q:  Can we store our bikes and gear somewhere on site?
A:  We plan on having stalls for rent, with a common work area for community bike service.

BMX Bicycle Motocross, Freestyle, & Mountain Bikes

Q:  What type of riding areas will there be for us free-stylers?
A:  We have the facility for you! Your own dirt jump area, pro big-air triple, awesome trails, street area, above ground vert, and below ground bowls.

Q:  Who is doing the design and layout?
A:  Greg Tait, yeah, we are consulting with the very best!!

Q:  In general us BMXer’s get scheduled on odd nights and are not allowed to ride with the inliners and skaters, will this be the case at the TXP?
A:  Not here at the TXP, we have over 200 thousand s.f. of area in the Village, we will add as demand increases.

Q:  Will there be a area for just the beginners?
A:  We will have an area just for beginners of all ages, with little difficulty.

Q:  Will there be a race track for the BMX racers?
A:  Yes, we will have an ABA, NBL 1,100 foot BMX sanctioned race track.

Q:  Can anyone race BMX?
A:  Yes, there are classes for all ages and gender in a variety of mottos. All ABA, and NBL rules will apply on the race track.

Q:  How often will there be scheduled races?
A:  There will be two scheduled races per week.

Q:  What safety equipment will be required to ride bikes?
A:  In general, a helmet will always be required for all activity areas. On the vert areas both below and above ground, all participants under the age of 18 will be required to wear elbow and knee pads as well. On the race track ABA and NBL safety rules will apply.

Q:  Where can we find the rules for the ABA and NBL?

Q:  I’m over 18 years of age, and a pro, are you still requiring me to wear a helmet?
A:  Especially you, my friend, I would hope that you would be a ambassador to the sport and even wear your knee and elbow pads and be a good example to all the youth that look up to you all as heroes! So be a good example.

Q:  Is there a area that we can leave our bikes and gear on site.
A:  Yes, we will have stalls for rent and a community repair area.

Q:  What if we need bike parts?
A:  We will have all the necessary parts in our pro-shop, extra tubes, and even bikes for sell, as well as clothing and safety gear.

Q:  Will there be any extreme trails for riding?
A:  We have planned more than five miles of extreme and pleasure riding trails.

Skate Park

Q:  How big is the proposed skate park?
A:  We have three phases that will total over 200,000 square feet of area.

Q:  What safety gear is needed to skate in the park?
A:  You will need a helmet, knee, and elbow pads to skate.

Q:  I’m over 18 years of age, and a pro, am I still required to wear a helmet?
A:  Especially you, my friend, I would hope that you would be an ambassador to the sport and even wear your knee and elbow pads and be a good example to all the youth that look up to you all as heroes! So be a good example.

Q:  Will there be a area for just the beginners?
A:  We will have an area with little difficulty just for the beginners of all ages.

Q:  Are scooters allowed in the park?
A:  Only in the beginner park.

Q:  Will there be competition events?
A:  Yes, for many different age groups, amateur, and sponsored.

Camps

Q:  What types of camps will be offered?
A:  We will have several camps, from weekend, day, nights, summer, spring break, groups, and individual.

Q:  What type of specialty camps will be provided?
A:  There will be many specialty camps ranging from BMX, MX, wakeboard, skate, in-line, strength, karate, gymnastics, paintball, volleyball, health, training, safety, and music camps.

Q:  Will there be general recreational camps?
A:  Yes

Q:  Will these camps be supervised?
A:  Yes, trained staff will closely supervise all youth camps.

Q:  How much will the camps cost?
A:  This will be determined by the length and type of camp. Look for the specials and details coming soon.

Q:  We are out of state, and I wish to fly my child to your area, can this be arranged?
A:  Yes, we will make all transportation arrangements to and from the Austin Bergstrom International Airport.

Q:  I am a youth church minister, can I rent out a cabin for my program and create our own activities?
A:  Yes, we welcome individual groups and programs.

Q:  What about adult camps, such as corporate, clubs, men’s, and ladies’ retreats?
A:  These camps are always welcome.

Q:  Can we pitch a tent and camp?
A:  Yes, we will have certain days where this will be allowed.

Q:  Do I need to pack food for my child’s trip?
A:  No, we will provide three meals a day, plus snacks.

Q:  What age is accepted for the camps?
A:  Six years of age and up.  Children will be grouped by age and gender.

Q:  Will the camps be co-ed?
A:  Some camps will be, but their will be separate dorms/cabins for gender.

Q:  I am concerned about teenage drinking and drug abuse, what programs are in place for prevention?
A:  Texas X Park has a zero tolerance program. Besides having a trained staff, counselors, and ministers, we also work closely with the sheriff, police chief, and school district with their programs of enforcement.

Q:  What type of evening activities will be offered for the youth?
A:  Movies, video games, as well as lighted sports court. Also, we will have a central camp pit fire, so pack a guitar and think about a few camp stories to share.

Q:  Are the campers allowed to go fishing?
A:  Yes, a Texas Parks and Wildlife fishing license will be required. These will be available as well in the pro-shop.

Wakeboard/Watersports

Q:  The plans show a tow cable lake.  What is that?
A:  The tow cable lake is a motorized cable that is pulled through a series of overhead pullies. Participants will be pulled around the oval lake area by a ski rope attached to this system.

Q:  How many skiers can participate on the tow lake?
A:  The system we propose will allow up to six riders at anytime.

Q:  How fast does the cable system pull the skiers?
A:  Speed can be adjusted, typically it will be set up at about 18-20 mph.

Q:  How do you get going on a cable tow system?
A:  It’s very simple.  You can either stand on the starting ramp, or jump off the bench or table depending on ones’ skill level. A staff member will ask if you are ready, and if so will hand you the rope handle, then you’re off.

Q:  How do you stop when skiing?
A:  Very simple, you just let go of the handle, ski close to the bank, and swim in to shore. If desired, you simply get back in line for additional turns.

Q:  I’m guessing there are no boat wakes to jump, so what’s the advanced wakeboarder to do?
A:  This is true, but there will be many challenging obstacles around the cable lake such as jumps, kickers, step-ups, table tops, grind rails, and slider boxes.

Q:  Can I kneeboard on the tow cable lake?
A:  Yes, traditional skis and other forms of water sports are accepted.

Q:  What safety equipment is required?
A:  A helmet and approved U. S. Coast Guard life vest is required on all participants on the tow cable lake at all times. This safety equipment can be rented or purchased at the pro shop.

Q:  Is there a boat lake planned as well?
A:  Yes, but the boat lake is only for select purpose events for competition, education, and training.

Circle Track

Q:  What type of circle track will the Texas X Park construct?
A:  We are proposing a multi-purpose dirt oval, for karts, Quarter Midgets, ATVs, and motorcycles. The track will be designed as per the sanctioning body’s specifications.

Q:  Will you be sound testing these racing vehicles?
A:  Yes, we will sound test all off-highway-vehicles.  Please visit the motocross Q&A for these details.

Q:  What safety rules will apply?
A:  The sanctioning body’s race director and their rules will be enforced. Texas X Park staff will assist only.

Q:  Are organized clubs allowed to host race events at the facility?
A:  Yes, we will work closely with the organized clubs.

Q:  Can I ride around the track on my ATV?
A:  The oval track will only be in service for organized practice and racing by approved clubs and sanctioning bodies.

Q:  When can we watch the races?
A:  We will post all events on our TXP site, but look for some weekend and Saturday night races soon.

Q:  What sanctioning organizations and clubs will be allowed on the oval track?
A:  Look for the approved associations on our links page.


RC Race Track

Q:  What type of racing and practice courses will you construct?
A:  Texas X Park will construct paved and dirt tracks for RC racing.

Q:  Will there be a paved road course?
A:  Yes, our paved race course will be multi-purpose and the course can be changed as per demand and request. Same with the dirt track area.

Q:  Can clubs and sanctioning racing bodies hold events at the Texas X  Park?
A:  Yes, we welcome clubs and sanctioning bodies.

Q:  I have a RC competition racing boat, will there be any scheduled areas or racing for me?
A:  Yes, the beach area will have an oval pool for scheduled racing events.

Q:  I have a RC plane, can I fly and race it at your facility?
A:  Only on select days for aerial flying and racing in restricted areas.


Bay-blade

Q:  What type of facility will be constructed for bay-blades?
A:  There will be a designated area in the skate village for bay-blades, as well as shaded pit areas for the battle fields and open fun.

Q:  What types of competition will be provided?
A:  In general, this is just a fun past-time, such as marbles when I was a kid. If they want to organize some serious competition, we will gladly assist their needs, as necessary.

Q:  Where can we purchase bay-blades?
A:  Most retail department stores carry these, we will have some general models for sale in our pro-shop.

Q:  I have seen the most extreme remote control battle machines on TV.  Are there such planned events at the Texas X Park?
A:  Yes, this is the Texas X Park!

Pro-shop

Q:  How big is the proposed pro-shop?
A:  For phase one, we are proposing a 20,000 s. f.  facility with a 10,000 s. f. covered patio.

Q:  Will there be a skateboard shop?
A:  Yes, we will have a full retail extreme sales area with everything you will need for all activities.

Q:  What name brand products will be for sell in the pro-shop?
A:  Just the top of the line specialty products and clothing line, you will not find any of our products for sell at Wal-Mart!

Q:  It’s difficult to find youth clothing and products at most sporting stores, what are your plans for this.
A:  Not to worry, the youth selection will be the best in the state.

Q:  What about female clothing?
A:  you will have your own clothing area, with the latest in extreme fashions.

Q:  Will there be a restaurant included in the pro-shop?
A:  Yes a full service restaurant and sports bar.

Q:  What type of food will be served?
A:  Aww cool question, wait until you see the menu, kick-flip fries, Nack-nack burgers, Can-cans, superman-seat grab sandwiches, olies, pop-shovet poppers. Yeah even the food menu will be extreme!

Q:  Tell me about the sports bar?
A:  This is not just a sports bar, but yet a live sports bar! Yeah, guest will be watching live extreme sporting activities in plain view. The other races such as flat-track, cable lake, BMX, and motocross will be on the big screens monitored with live cameras on each event.

Q:  Will alcohol beverages be served?
A:  Yes, there will be a full service bar with our famous heal-clicker margarita!

Q:  Will there be internet access available on site?
A:  Yes, the entire SEDC will share an on site tower, guest will be able monitor all the activities from anywhere on site.

Q:  Does this mean I can lay on the beach, work on my tan, reading a book and sip on a margarita and watch my son skate in the park on my lap-top?
A:  Yes, that is the number one request from every mom we polled, ha-ha

Q:  I have a toddler, will there be any accommodations for them?
A:  Yes, there will be a small sand play area and spray park for the toddlers, these areas will be fenced for security.

Q:  Will childcare be provided for the active parents with small children?
A:  This is being considered, please contact staff for an update.

Q:  My daughter would like to have her birthday celebration at you site, is this possible?
A:  Yes, we have three party rooms in phase one, we can make all the accommodations including custom cakes, pizza, soft drinks and specials on activities.

Q:  What about dad here, I’d like to celebrate my big 40th birthday on site, what about that?
A:  Yes certainly…we can acuminate any special request.

Q:  What’s this about a custom birthday cakes?
A:  Yes we will have skateboard, wakeboard, MX, and BMX cakes for custom orders. Please check on-line for a very unique custom birthday cake for your occasion. You are always welcome to bring your own cake as well.

Q:  What about corporate retreats and parties?
A:  Yes, staff will accommodate all requests with your needs and demands. One of the biggest requests from our polls was to the demand for a corporate meeting area where the entire family could come and enjoy themselves as well. So we have designed VIP meeting areas for your events and staff can keep the rest of the family entertained in the park with a select sort of activities.

Q:  We would like to have a family reunion, is this possible at the Texas X Park?
A:  Yes, we also have a large covered area for such events including promotions, weddings and corporate events.

Q:  Will there be any indoor games at the pro-shop?
A:  We will have pool tables, shuffle board, and a video arcade in the pro-shop.

Q:  Ok, what about a dance floor?
A:  Certainly, an indoor and outdoor dance floor will be constructed, and live music will be performing on selective days and nights.

Q:  What types of music will be played at the patio bar?
A:  There will be a large variety of different music, so expect Country, Rock-and-roll, blues, contemporary Christian, and Latino, look for the specials bands and nights coming soon.

Q:  I heard that there may be a theater in the pro-shop?
A:  We are proposing a 25 seat indoor theater in phase two, with the ultimate surround sound for the most extreme movies ever made!

Concert area

Q:  When will the concert area be open for concerts?
A:  The beach concert area is part of our phase two of construction.

Q:  Looking at the Master Plan, it appears that I could set in the wading pool, sip a margarita and enjoy some music.
A:  Yes, that’s the plan, or you can lay on the beach, or grab some shade on the boardwalk and covered patio deck.

Q:  I am in a band and we would like to perform at the beach area, what is the procedure and what can we be expected to be paid?
A:  To perform at either the beach concert area, or the patio area, you will need to send a CD of your music and a proposal of what you will need for accommodations and fees, to the P.O. Box on the contact page. Management will then contact you to discuss a contract and commitments.

Q:  What type of music are you looking for?
A:  We are entertaining all types of music, except any with profanity. In our Sound abatement program, all profanity is strictly prohibited and will not be allowed on site. If your sample CD includes such, we may not consider your band. Bands that speak of profanity on stage will be asked professionally not to repeat the offense. If the offense is repeated, the band may be asked to leave and possibly probation, or to never return.

Q:  Why such a strict ordinance?
A:  We are in a city and community surrounded by residential families. We must respect our community if our sound should travel slightly onto their property.

Q:  We heard that you all were planning a high school battle of the bands, is this true?
A:  Yes we will have many competition band related activities.

Q:  It appears that a band could be playing and a wakeboarder could come along and almost jump over the band?
A:  This is the Texas X Park, is it not, ha-ha.

Q:  Us bands really like large stages, how large is the proposed stage at the Texas X Park?
A:  6,000 s.f. enjoy!!

Q:  Can plays, magic shows, speech, and the performing arts have shows on the stage?
A:  Yes, these types of entertainment are planned.

Transportation

Q:  How do we get to the facility?
A:  There is a site map and directions under the site map link.

Q:  If we arrive in the area on the commuter rail train, how do we get to the park?
A:  We will run a shuttle bus on their schedule.

Q:  I’m a mother of two teenage boys and live in Austin within walking distance of a train station, is this correct that my boys can get to your facility without me having to take them?
A:  Yes, that is correct, rent a movie and enjoy your day, or come and play as well.

Q:  What about the bus, can we ride the Cap Metro bus to the site?
A:  Yes, the bus and train station are in the same area, we can shuttle you in from there.

Q:  How do I get my motorcycle on the train or buss.
A:  That will be impossible, I suggest you rent an appropriate size stall to store your gear.

Q:  Can we just drive into the park?
A:  Sure, but some days there may be special events, that require paid parking.

Q:  How will the students in the school district find transportation to your park?
A:  TXP will provide bussing for the students enrolled in our programs.

Activities

Q:  I am a coach of a youth volley ball team, can we use your facility for practice and scheduled tournaments.
A:  Yes, the park can be used for many different types of sports to host tournaments and practice, please feel free to contact staff for additional detail.

Q:  Can we bring a horse and trail ride the park?
A:  Yes, on certain days this activity will be allowed, please contact staff before hand.

Q:  Can we fly a kite at the park?
A:  Yes, general park activities are allowed.

Q:  Can we rent areas of the park for private parties?
A:  Yes, please contact staff for rates and areas.

Education

Q:  I have a summer science class for elementary school children. Can we hold a camp at your facility?
A:  Yes

Q:  What educational classes will the TXP provide?
A:   Our facility will have a large schedule of sports related educational education in advanced training, beginner, safety, and basics.

Q:  Will there be pros teaching motorcycle riding education?
A:  Yes, see the camping Q & A.

Q:  I am in human resource at my company, I can think of a lot of our education training classes that could fit at your park and facility, is this a possibility?
A:  Yes, staff is always willing to assist in your special needs.

Community

Q:  I am a Girl Scott leader and my daughter and group have been visiting the retirement facilities, and we were wanting to possibly bring these elders out to the park, would this ever be possible.
A:  Yes, we would be willing to assist your services to our community.

Q:  Will the facility be considered a drop off location for all the not-for-profit charities such as food drives, cotes for kids, Blue Santa, and others?
A:  Yes, we will be partnering with many not-for-profit organizations.

Q:  I own a small business in the community, and your facility has a lot of people passing thought it. I would be interested in setting up a vending booth at your facility on weekends, would this be possible.
A:  Yes, please contact staff for details.

Q:  Can my, “not for profit” group hold fundraisers at your park?
A:  Yes, please contact staff for specials.

Q:  Will the management have any sports related scholarships for the athletes?
A:  Yes we have a “not for profit” organization with a volunteer board that will escrow funds for just such.

Q:  Will the Texas X Park sponsor athletes to compete in events.
A:  Yes, our “not for profit” organization will organize such activities.

Paintball

Q:  What type of paintball courses will the TXP offer?
A:  We have few courses in mind, leisure, competition, and tournament. Believe me these will be state-of-the-art courses that will keep you splatting your friends for a long time.

Q:  Will the course be lighted?
A:  The tournament and competition courses will be, for night time action fun.

Q:  What safety gear will be required?
A:  Staff approved eye safety gear.

Q:  What about the gear, and paint balls, what can we expect?
A:   Multi question…you can bring your own gear and equipment, we will also sell and rent the most advanced supplies available at the pro-shop. All paintballs must be purchased through the pro-shop.

Q:  I am an individual and am not on a team, can I play?
A:  Yes, you are always welcome in the leisure area, if you would like, we will be organizing teams daily for fun competition games.

Q:  I belong to a league, can we use the facility for tournaments?
A:  Yes, we would be willing to co-promote your tournaments at our facility and put you pro guys under the lights to watch all the action.

Q:  Our league brings our own inflatable obstacles for the tournaments can we set up our own course and have a state championship.
A:  We have the open meadows area of 8.5 acres for such events, or you may use our two acre beach for the tournament area as well.

Q:  Can the paintball courses be rented for corporate retreats and private parties?
A:  Yes, contact staff for the specials.

RV Park

Q:  How many RV spots will your RV Park have?
A:  150 locations in the RV Park, an additional +/-30 spots in the overflow and a few scattered around some of the activities areas.

Q:  Will there be shore power available?
A:  Yes, the 150 spaces in the RV Park will have 125V/50Amp outlets, so bring your adaptor or you can rent or purchase one in the pro-shop.

Q:  What about water?
A:  The 150 spaces will have a hose bib.
Q:  What about a dump station?
A:  We have one planned in phase two, for now we will contract out this service.

Q:  Can we just RV in the family for the weekend?
A:  Yes, we will offer a verity of specials, from daily, weekly, summer, and annually.

Accommodations

Q:  Ok-ok, I have read through all these questions and answers, reviewed the web site, do I understand this correct? I live in downtown Austin and have three children. So we can buy a RV at your site, rent a RV space, and a stall for all our equipment that we can purchase at your facility. We can then take a train to your area, you guys pick us up and bring us to the park. My wife can shop in the SEDC or lay on the beach, read a book, sip a margarita or take a nape in our new RV. My daughter can play volley ball, my son can skateboard, and my other daughter can ride the trails with me on our new dirt bikes we purchased on site. We can play all day and listen to live music in the evenings and camp out in the RV Park. We can attend church services Sunday morning with the Racers for Christ and then keep on playing and relaxing, maybe go fishing as well. My wife can watch us on-line in the RV. And you guys will take us back to the train for our departure Sunday afternoon??
A:  Yes, that’s the plan.

Q:  Your Park is huge, will there be restrooms in different areas?
A:  Yes, these locations will be readily close to the activities.

Q:  It’s gets hot in the summer, will there be shade?
A:  Additional shaded structures will be placed throughout the park.

Q:  I think you guys covered every activity, what about other accommodations?
A:  The SEDC will have hotels, unique shopping, service, additional entertainment, and a verity of different restaurants for you to sample.
